What is Giving Tuesday?
You may already know of the days that are retail promotions centered around Thanksgiving in the U.S.: Black Friday, Small Business Saturday, and Cyber Monday. Giving Tuesday is part of this trend! Many nonprofits have participated in this annual movement to make the Tuesday after Thanksgiving a day to give back.
A Demonstrated History of Success on GIving Tuesday
Starfish has held multiple successful fundraisers in person and online! Below are the funds raised over the years (in USD):
2014: 10 events in the U.S., raising $4,159
2015: 7 events in the U.S., raising $2,013
2016: 9 events in the U.S., plus online donations, raising over $9,000
2017: 3 events in the U.S., plus online donations, plus matching from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation
2018: 8 events in the U.S., Italy, and Ecuador, plus online donations, raising $5,546
2019: 1 event in the U.S., plus online donations, raising $8,257
2020: Giving Tuesday became a completely online campaign, raising over $7,000 each year since!
